10 basic problems of UPS power supply

1. What kind of load is more suitable for UPS?

UPS is designed according to inductive load, so it is its duty to carry inductive load. Generally, the capacitor connected in parallel at the output of the UPS inverter plays a filtering role on the one hand, and on the other hand, it cancels the inductance component in the load.

If the load is capacitive, how can capacitors be used to offset the capacitive components? It can only increase the output capacitive components, and the current of these capacitive components must be provided by the inverter to reduce the active components output by the inverter. Is small, so the capacity of carrying load is weakened.

2. What is the function of STS, LBS and dual bus?

The function of STS (static switch) is to switch between two input AC power. The function of LBS (synchronizer) is to synchronize the two sets of UPS, the purpose is to make the switching time of STS zero. The function of the dual bus is to provide redundant power to the electrical equipment.

3. What are the advantages and disadvantages of the power frequency UPS and the high frequency UPS?

Industrial frequency UPS: The disadvantage is that the input power factor is low, the power consumption is large, the efficiency is low, the volume is large, heavy, the price is high, and the reliability is low; the advantage is that it is relatively easy to manufacture, especially the manual operation has little effect, and the product is consistent Sexual requirements are relatively low.

High-frequency UPS: The advantages are high input power factor, low power consumption, high efficiency, small size, lightness, and high reliability; the disadvantages are high requirements for production methods and strict requirements for product consistency.

4. Why is the UPS capacity expressed in VA?

The unit of active power is Watt (W), and the unit of reactive power is Var. Generally, the capacity of UPS is expressed by apparent power. Since apparent power contains both active power and reactive power, it can neither be called W nor var. Since the apparent power is volts (V) and amperes (A), simply called VA.

5. Is there lightning protection on the UPS?

UPS can be equipped with optional input C-level lightning protection, and it has two methods: one is lightning protection with the priority of protecting the load. The second is lightning protection with the priority of protecting power supply, but it has little effect. Because the UPS is equipped with lightning protection, at best, it can only make the power distribution cabinet a first-level lightning protection, but the lightning protection device cannot be omitted in the power distribution.

6. What are the benefits for users to understand the development of UPS?

The main purpose of understanding the direction of UPS development is to enable users to avoid buying obsolete equipment that has been eliminated or will be eliminated soon, so as to avoid unnecessary losses. At present, UPS has developed into an online parallel redundant modular solution system UPS, so that distributors and users can realize that modularity has come, and it will replace the traditional UPS in the data room application.

7. Is the output isolation transformer of the industrial frequency UPS fully isolated?

The output isolation transformer of a power frequency machine is strictly an indispensable component of its inverter part, and it has no full isolation effect, because the bypass is not isolated, and the neutral line is not isolated.

8. What is the development trend of UPS?

The main purpose of developing UPS technology is to improve the dynamic response of UPS to the output load faster and better. UPS will become more intelligent, networked, green, and high-frequency in the future.

9. What is the definition of UPS efficiency? What does it represent?

The definition of UPS efficiency η is: the percentage of the ratio of the output active power P to the input active power P’, namely: η=(P/P’)%. It is a sign that measures the size of UPS power consumption, and is not the same as power factor.

10. Is INVT Power’s UPS reliable?

INVT Power has been engaged in the double-conversion UPS power supply industry for more than ten years, and has accumulated rich professional experience. It is well versed in the application of UPS uninterruptible power supplies in the medical, communications, power and other industries, as well as the status and characteristics of the UPS industry. It has an insight into the development trend of the industry and serves the majority of users. Provide stable, safe, efficient products and perfect data center energy solutions. In order to meet the green development trend of data centers, INVT Power has launched an micro integrated data center solution with small product footprint, factory pre-installation, and safety and intelligence.
